This curriculum is intended to help all those involved with children with disabilities to understand and implement IDEA 2004, the nation's special education law. It is organized according to five themes central to IDEA, with multiple training modules for each of them. The themes are (a) Welcome to IDEA: A Broad Look -- 2 modules; (b) IDEA and General Education -- 4 modules; (c) Evaluating Children for Disability -- 3 modules; (d) Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) -- 5 modules; and (d) Procedural Safeguards -- 3 modules. These video clips feature leaders from the federal Office of Special Education Programs who discuss provisions of the final Part B regulations implementing IDEA 2004.  The topics are (a) children enrolled by their parents in private schools; (b) discipline; (c) early intervening services/response to intervention; (d) highly qualified teachers; (e) individualized education program (IEP) -- Changes in initial evaluation and re-evaluation; (f) monitoring and enforcement; (g) National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS); and (h) procedural safeguards.  A series of webcasts on the regulations is available on the same page.
