In addition to protecting student rights, these guidelines give best practice suggestions for the protection of teachers, other school personnel, LEAs, and the Utah State Office of Education. This document incorporates the model of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Response to Intervention (RtI).

Dr. Donald Kincaid, from the University of South Florida, introduces resources and best practices for training administrators in school-wide positive behavior support, and discusses research and successful practices in Florida. He discusses in detail what administrators can do to help create a school that has a successful positive behavior support system. This resource is a 508 compliant presentation featuring searchable presentation captioning and video, navigation points, and synchronized, downloadable accompanying materials.

These two videos developed by Floridaâ?s Positive Behavior Support Project provide introductions to school-wide positive behavior support (PBS) and the use of response to intervention (RTI) for behavior. Floridaâ?s Positive Behavior Support Project is funded by the Florida Department of Education.

The New Hampshire Department of Education implemented a three-year (2006-2008) dropout prevention grant called APEX II. This project was extended into 2009. APEX II builds on a previous dropout prevention and school improvement program (APEX I) implemented in two New Hampshire high schools from 2002-2005.
