This online module provides information on the essentials of high functioning autism and Asperger Syndrome for resource and general education teachers. The thirty-eight minute video and facilitation guide are designed for faculty meeting presentations and help teachers understand the neurological foundations of autism, the underlying characteristics of this condition, and some practical interventions for school success.

In addition to protecting student rights, these guidelines give best practice suggestions for the protection of teachers, other school personnel, LEAs, and the Utah State Office of Education. This document incorporates the model of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Response to Intervention (RtI).
