
“Improving the Odds for Adolescents” is a two-year project to improve health outcomes for adolescents -- with a special focus on disadvantaged youth -– through the strengthening of State policies, including fiscal strategies. This paper reviews current policies and practices to support children, youth, and families exposed to trauma, and documents critical considerations for strengthening policies to support trauma-informed practice. A range of strategies were used to gather the information, including an extensive literature review, a meeting of policy and practice experts, and several case studies.
